I mean it could probably get better but they haven't actually talked much since Cry Wolf and Cry Fox and Van just looking at him made him nope off of Aather for a bit since he was already having a moment over Cry Fox when that happened and how everything went down in Cry Wolf was really traumatizing and probably worse than the worst Vriska has ever done to him. '-' Which is saying something, I think.
I MEAN IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BETTER but I also don't think it will ever really get back up to the level it was at.
What does Van think of Ruby in the aftermath of Cry Wolf/on Tavros specifically?

Anyway, things were already awkward because Ruby was Luke's team, and then Van broke his vow of not killing anyone by taking out the teams of his two ex-students who he already fucked over back home. Part of him was disgusted at Ruby for playing with the votes the way they did in the first round, but that has been very much overshadowed by the fact that nearly everyone in that game was playing the same way and that Ruby ended up dying because he got fed up with it. So it's...not something he can blame them for.
For Tavros specifically, he actually feels pretty bad for getting him hurt since...he did like Tavros and he probably won't be able to fulfill the promise of telling him what his hymn meant now. Tavros shrinking away in the CryFox game pretty much solidified the fact that the relationship would be really damn hard to salvage...Which makes things even more uncomfortable for Van cause at least his deaths up to that point offered some sort of kinship with the people he died with and he's a big believer in that shedding blood together is meant to create or strengthen a bond but uh...Obviously he messed it up enough that that is not the case and it saddens him greatly.
...But overall on fallout, Van is pretty much using what happened at the CryWolf game as justification that people deserve to die because he received so many speeches about how JUST FOLLOWING THE RULES WITHOUT QUESTIONING THEM IS BAD and WE SHOULD SAVE EVERYONE and then that entire game involved people reinterpreting the rules...to make sure someone else died. While those same people who were twisting the votes were lamenting the fact that Jabberwock and Jacobi were making them distrustful of each other which meant they were self-aware enough of the situation to see what it was...but still allowed themselves to be played by puppets by it. Which is something Van completely and utterly hates with his entire being.
WHICH PING-PONGING BACK TO TAVROS, this means he respects Tavros now because he was one of the few people to bring up the fact that Jabberwock wanted to tear people apart and that he didn't want to let that happen, even while being upfront about the fact that he wasn't ready to forgive Van for it. Basically, being honest about the fact that he was upset and would be upset for a while, but also deciding not to be a puppet, which is something Van feels is worthy of recognition.
Any future hopes for Aather!Tavros right now? :o
